On 14 May, Anna Netrebko and the Mariinsky Orchestra will perform under the baton of Valery Gergiev at one of the best concert venues in the world – the Wiener Musikverein. The concert will be hosted by the Großer Saal which can accommodate more than two thousand people. Its programme includes works by Giuseppe Verdi and Igor Stravinsky. To be performed are arias and symphonic excepts from Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth, Aida, La forza del destino, and Nabucco, as well as the suite from Igor Stravinsky’s The Firebird. Concert tickets were sold out long before the date of the concert. On the eve of the concert, on 13 May, Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra will appear at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre with two renowned musicians: David Geringas, a world-famous cellist, conductor and teacher, and Professor Wilfried Strehle, a celebrated violist and former soloist of the Berliner Philharmoniker. The programme includes Claude Debussy’s Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune, Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 (Italian), and Richard Strauss’s tone poem Don Quixote. |
