From 19 to 25 October Valery Gergiev will once again be conducting the Münchner Philharmoniker in a series of concerts in Germany. The first performances in the series on 19 and 20 October will take place at the Gasteig Philharmonie. The programme includes Ludwig van Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and the Leonore overture No 3 and Sergei Rachmaninoff's Fourth Piano Concerto, the solo being performed by Denis Matsuev. In addition to the evening concerts, audiences at the Gasteig Philharmonie will have the opportunity to attend rehearsals by the Münchner Philharmoniker under Valery Gergiev (18 and 19 October). The programme of works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Sergei Rachmaninoff will also be performed at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt and the Philharmonie Essen, where Denis Matsuev and the Münchner Philharmoniker under Valery Gergiev will be appearing on 21 and 22 October. The German ensemble and maestro Gergiev will then return to Munich for a further two concerts at the Gasteig Philharmonie on 24 and 25 October. The programmes include the overture to Richard Wagner's opera Tannhäuser, Johannes Brahms' Variations on a Theme by Haydn and Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Sixth Symphony Pathétique. The next performances featuring Valery Gergiev with the Münchner Philharmoniker are due to take place in November. As part of a tour to China, the musicians will visit Beijing, Nanking, Xi'an and Tianjin. |
