28 September will see the first concert in a series of performances by the Mariinsky Theatre at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall (Moscow). Over the course of the 2017-18 season Valery Gergiev will be conducting the ensemble three times in concert performances of operas. The first evening in the series will be Richard Wagner's opera Das Rheingold. The lead roles are to be performed by Mariinsky Opera soloists Zhanna Dombrovskaya (soprano), Oxana Shilova (soprano), Anna Kiknadze (mezzo-soprano), Yulia Matochkina (mezzo-soprano), Ekaterina Semenchuk (mezzo-soprano), Yekaterina Sergeyeva (mezzo-soprano), Mikhail Vekua (tenor), Dmitry Voropaev (tenor), Andrei Popov (tenor), Vladislav Sulimsky (baritone), Yevgeny Nikitin (bass-baritone), Ilya Bannik (bass), Yuri Vorobiev (bass) and Pavel Shmulevich (bass). Valery Gergiev will be conducting the Mariinsky Orchestra. Also at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, there will be performances of the operas Simon Boccanegra by Giuseppe Verdi (4 February) and The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Tchaikovsky (11 June). |
